Flake is a young man living with his parents on the outskirts of the largest mountain range in this universe, located in the east. His father Dwan and his mother Friì are embodiments of kindness despite a world full of woes and dangers. Three years before Flake's birth, Friì, then only 16, was the only one not struck down by a raving fever that bedridden everyone in her village. With no doctors living there, she journeyed to the capital, traversing jungles and marshes to save her peers. Upon her return, everyone was recovering thanks to Dwan, a doctor studying medicinal plants in the range. They became heroes of the mining hamlet at the foot of the mountains. Everyone loved them, and their reputation began to spread.
Several years later, at 15, Flake returned to the village after spending days in the mountains fishing for Feron (a legendary fish praised for its nutritious value and its skin used as fuel for mining equipment). The village was cold, eerily still, frozen in fact. A horde of barbarians from Pic Fjell had taken over, eternally freezing the town's leadership council, including Flake's parents, elder Gim, and the mine's operations director, Barg, in eternal ice. The village was silenced, forced into slavery against the cold magic of these barbarians who sought a crystal to enhance their powers and seize control of the place, crushing anyone who opposed them. Flake promised his parents, frozen in that unyielding ice, that he would rescue them, and together the village would rise against these invaders and reclaim what was theirs.
Forced to flee the village, Flake sought a way to defeat the ice: powerful but controllable flames... A FLAMETHROWER. But an ordinary flamethrower would never melt such steadfast ice. After arriving in the capital, he heard of Lasair, the man who conquered lava. Learning that Lasair, now a legend, resided at the Cir-fut-lom lava falls, Flake traveled across the country to find him. Once at Cir-fut-lom, he met a young woman, Lasair's granddaughter. The old man had passed away a decade ago, betrayed and killed by his former apprentice after discovering, in the granddaughter's words, "the absolution of the eternal."
Equipped with a prototype of the legendary builder's weapon, a dual-barrel flamethrower with elemental protection (and a coffee machine), Flake decided to enter the arena to resurrect the fallen legend, so he could complete the weapon that would, enable him to fulfill his destiny. At least that's what he believed as he approached the heart of this world, the renowned tournament.
